Bittman meets his Hero

In his blog post entitled Wendell Berry, American Hero, on the New York Times’ Opinionator, food writer Mark Bittman describes his visit to Berry’s farm in Port Royal, KY. Berry, the farming author who for decades has been the figurehead of America’s back to the land movement, is his warm, charming and thoughtful self, and the piece reminds me why I never pass up a chance to read Berry or hear him speak. I envy Bittman’s chance to sit down with him at the farmstead for a chat. For those who are unfamiliar with his philosophy and graceful writing, here’s a link to some of Berry’s greatest lines.
