Training
Carolyn and Michael teach a variety of courses for photographers, writers, videographers and other professionals looking to develop their own storytelling skills or abilities to work in a media environment defined by accelerating change. Their courses include:
Small Camera Workshop, a popular class that teaches the basics of video storytelling with small, consumer cameras to scientists, educators, public relations professionals, journalists hoping to develop the skills to make moving images, and businesses who need to create video for outreach or to collaborate with television or documentary professionals.
Writing for Photographers, Photography for Writers, and Script Writing classes help professionals from other media disciplines expand their skill sets so they can pursue different types of stories and media outlets.
Media Training classes taught by Michael and Carolyn helps individuals and organizations to understand the current news media environment, how it has changed in recent years, and how to navigate the new media landscape and use the evolving media to each student’s best advantage.
All of Narrative Light’s classes are tailored to the individuals, small groups, or classroom settings they are serving. The classes are engaging and intensive but, just as importantly, fun!
In addition the above training opportunities, Michael regularly lectures and speaks about new media, his adventure and investigative photojournalism projects and books, and how storytelling can improve the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems. Feel free to contact Michael, Carolyn and Narrative Light to request a customized class, lecture or speaking engagement.
